Illustration Friday: “Swamp”
March 23, 2012
One of my favorite comic book characters has always been The Swamp Thing. Some of the best artwork for Swamp Thing was created by Bernie Wrightson; a really amazing illustrator. So, with this week’s Illustration Friday topic, “swamp” I had no choice but to come up with something that had a little of The Swamp Thing going on. I gave this one a long title, to help with the story. The full title is, “The First Time I Met Swampfoot, He Asked to Borrow my Umbrella.” Here is the image, I hope you all enjoy it! 🙂

This is super, Scott! Love the atmosphere you’ve created..and great characters!
Thanks, Shirley!
Cute! I really like the misty, foggy atmosphere. Love the big feet, and the little guy unwilling to relinquish the umbrella! Very nicely done.
Thanks, Cindy! Funny thing is, I created this image on Friday, then I woke up Saturday morning to take the dog for a walk and I felt like I was walking right in to this image. It was foggy and a little drizzly. I guess I had better paint something sun-shiney today. 🙂 Take care
Nice work Scott!
Thanks, Steve! I look forward to seeing you at another figure study night soon! 🙂
I love the fact that all that kid can see is the feet! Great image of the mist and the rain…

Brilliant, love the expressions on the characters faces and the way you’ve captured the feel of heavy rain. 🙂
I’d be running like hell if a foot like that appeared next to me! You’ve created a wonderful mood here! And the title is fabulous!!
Thanks, Mit! I have to admit; my favorite part of creating an image always seems to be coming up with a title for it. Thanks for stopping by!
Ooh – he’s really scary! Eerie background is gorgeous though – perfect backdrop for big scary monters wtih big feet…
